Eleanor & ParkEleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

****Slight spoilers****

Talk about a throwback to the 80's! This book pretty much summed up my high school experience. I genuinley adored every moment this book had to offer. It was humorous, smart, and sassy. I think the author totally captured how life was in the 80's...Casette tapes, acid washed mini skirts, mean girls, bullies, punks and of course MTV. Sadly,Eleanor was a target from day one..no one liked her..from the way she dressed, to her flaming, unruly red hair. Park, with his black hair and dreamy eyes, was quiet and reserved, never adding to her misery, offered up his seat to her on the first day of school. From then on their relationship went unnoticed, even to themselves, but it all changed and grew over the course of just one school year into something wonderful and magical, until an incident happens at Eleanors, she chooses to run away. With Park's help she takes the next steps to secure her life and be free from an abusive step dad and passive mother. I laughed, shed some tears and was furious at her situation. life lessons are all throughout this story. Overall this book was a terrific read and highly recommended. Thank you for sharing Rainbow!

A Discovery of WitchesA Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this book! It was long and descriptive..normally it's overkill and I lose interest, but this one really got my attention. Matthew and Diana..vampire and witch..I love that concept. It had a twilight kind of feel with their attraction to each other and Diana has quite a few "Bella" moments..ya just wanna smack her! Matthew is overprotective and territorial like Edward..the "congregation" is like the Volturi..so many similarities and yet not. That didn't bother me at all, because Twilight is one of my favorite books. DOW takes it further into the history of witches, vampires and demons, which I loved! Gonna start Shadow of night soon:)

***SPOILERS***

Ashes on the WavesAshes on the Waves by Mary Lindsey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

****SPOILERS***
I'm trying to put into words how beautiful and heart wrenching this story is..I guess I can start by saying how refreshing it was to have the female character (Anna) pursue the male(Liam)I know you are thinking..why is this so refreshing, when it's done all the time? Well, because we are all so used to love stories being told the other way around..The girl is usually shy and naive and is usually the pursued, but not in this story. Anna is forthcoming and honest with no inhabitions and is strong and beautiful and knows what she wants and won't let anyone or anything get in her way. Liam is shy and innocent and really doesn't know the way of the world, he only knows the world of Dochas island where everything is handled by the villagers, including the law. The worst part was what he was told he was all his life...that he was...a demon and shouldn't be living. He grows up believing there is no hope for him and he has come to terms with his life, but it doesn't stop Liam from learning all he can from his books and about Anna from the tabloids that come to Dochas once a week. Anna is from a well to do family and Liam thinks he has no chance with her, until one day, she returns to the island..the place where they played as children, the place where Liam first fell in Love with Ms. Annabel Leighton. Anna is nothing like the tabloids say she is, she is quite the opposite. Anna and Liam find love and will fight for it, no matter what. There are things...Otherworldy things, playing a cruel game and using them as pawns to see if humans really are capable of true love or if they will cave at the first signs of trouble. Will it tear them apart forever, or does love really conquer all? I've never read such a captivating book in what seems like forever..I really had a hard time putting this book down and basically read it in one day. Hauntingly beautiful..Thanks for this wonderful gift Ms. Lindsey <3

I Am OzzyI Am Ozzy by Ozzy Osbourne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing, funny and very eye opening. Loved it! I think Ozzy has been misunderstood..lol..maybe not. All in all he's gone through alot of crap in life. How this man is still alive is beyond me. Someone was definitely watching over him. As for his wives..well kudos to them for putting up with his nonsense. Especially Sharon. Now that's a strong woman..to be almost killed by your husband and drop the charges because she truly believed he wasn't a bad guy, it's just he was someone else when he was high. That's true love my friends or they both are just plain crazy! Lol...great story and a must read! My first ever Biography:) very cool!

EasyEasy by Tammara Webber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What did I think? powerful, amazing, moving and a very passionate story. It's a scary world out there and I couldn't imagine going through such emotional and physical trauma like Jackie and Lucas did. To live with such guilt to the point of shutting everyone out of your life, is not living..it's barely surviving. We have to ask for help..seek it out to get through the horrible things in life, to get to the better things life has to offer us. What would you do in Jackie's situation? I know an incident like that should have been reported ASAP! I hope this book helps other women to come forward and not be scared to have their attacker held accountable for their actions. Fear is a terrible emotion, but we need to use it for the greater good. This is one of those books that stay with you for a while. It won't be "easy" to forget such an amazing book and characters. Excited to read more of Tammara's books and most def a "best boyfriend" book for sure..Lucas is one amazing guy! Must read!

Grounded (Up In The Air, #3)Grounded by R.K. Lilley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well now, for all the parts of this book that I was a little disturbed by, it certainly took a turn and made up for it in the end. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack before I finished! James and Bianca..what can I say? 2 tormented souls with a past that seems to keep rearing it's ugly head, have finally persevered..thank god! So much pain..yet followed by so much love. We should all be lucky to have a amazing best friend like Stephan. He always had Bianca's back, regardless of what James had to say. Loved the ending and it made me tear up for sure..wow! All the characters were wonderful..I laughed, got ticked off and was excited all through out this book. This series was pretty great and sad to see it end. But glad it ended the way it did nonetheless. Perfect ending to an amazing, twisted, co-dependent love story..and I mean that in the most caring way:) Thanks for sharing your stories with us Ms. Lilley ;)

A thrilling debut story of death, love, destiny, and danger Lenzi hears voices and has visions - gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can't help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she's a reincarnated Speaker - someone who can talk to and help lost souls - and that he has been her Protector for centuries. Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn't make a decision soon. Shattered Souls (Souls #1) Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My Review-*****SPOILERS*****

What a story! Unlike any other love story I've ever read. Mary Lindsey has totally taken "falling in love" to a whole new level. Could you imagine having such an important, yet dangerous job as Lenzi's and Alden's? A speaker-one who can hear spirits and a help them resolve their issues still holding them on earth and a Protector-one who makes sure the speaker is protected from malevolent spirits!Which I might add, how fantastic Alden is!  Would you risk your body and soul to save the one you have loved for centuries? Well you will surely find out once you have read this. All the characters were awesome! I'd like to know more about Race and Maddie for sure. Then there's Zak.. really did love Lenzi, and he sometimes went a little overboard when he was upset and who could blame him? Love does crazy things to people,he just wanted the same love in return. He was the only one who knew about the voices in Lenzi's head and still stood by her..I totally teared up when he said goodbye. The quote "There is hope, until the last second" holy cow!it's so true! This book was amazing and I'm totally looking forward to the next one. I don't even know what else to say, it was just freaking amazing! Sharing souls and excorcism's have never gotten my attention like the ones in this story.I was so gripped by their story, I about ate a whole pack of Mentos. So glad for the day off today, so I could finish this..it's bittersweet. Well done Ms.Lindsey! <3

 Character interview with Owen Crawford
                   "A Mermaid’s Curse"

1. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I don’t believe there is anything I would change.  Well, my life would be easier if I was the first-born son, but other than that, nothing.
2. What can you offer the world?
Myself. *Winks*
3. What’s your strongest opinion on saving the world?
The world doesn’t need saving, people do.
4. What’s your greatest talent?
*Smirks* I hear that I’m excellent in bed.
5. Do you say what’s on your mind?
Always!
6. Are you a peacekeeper?
*Grins* No, I’m more of a troublemaker.
7. Do you have one special friend? If so, who?
I can’t say that I do.  Having friends imply that you trust someone, and I trust no one.
8. What is your worst fear?
Fear is a sign of weakness.  I was taught not to have any.
9. What do you want written on your Epitaph?
“Here lies Owen Crawford.  All dressed up and no place to go.”
10. Favorite food, if any?
Pizza
11. What tangible object symbolizes you, if any?
A vibrator
12. Do you have a secret?
I have many secrets.
13. What’s in your refrigerator right now?
Beer and Chinese food.
14. You’re doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for you to throw out? What is difficult for you to part with? Why?
Everything that I have can be replaced.

A Mermaid's Curse Author Interview

          Interview with Daniele Lanzarotta

What inspired you to write your first book?
Other YA authors and their stories inspired me to write my first book.  I was reading a lot of YA novels at the time and I wanted to create my own world and my own characters, and that is how Imprinted Souls got started.
Will you be writing any more YA books, if so what will they be about and how many? Will it be a series?
Absolutely.  I love writing YA. J  Right now I’m working on the last Academy of the Fallen novel, Forsaken.  I also have two other YA novels planned: Unseen (The main character’s choices between two guys is also a choice between life or death) and Branded (A witch series… more to be revealed soon. J)
Do you have a specific writing style?
I found that my writing style is different depending on what series I’m working on, so no. *Laughs*
Do you like being an author?
I LOVE IT!
How did you come up with the titles for your YA books?
I wish I had a better answer but they honestly just came to me.
Is there a message in your novel (Mermaid’s Curse) that you want readers to grasp?
Follow your dreams and keep moving forward no matter what life throws at you.
Are there places in this book that are real? (towns, schools, etc)
All fiction! J  The Imprinted Souls Series were the only novels where I actually used real places.
What books have most influenced your life most?
There were many books and characters that influenced me, but if I had to choose only one, I would say ‘The Edge of Never.’  It’s one of those books that really make you look at things differently.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Richelle Mead.  I love her books!  I also love that she writes YA and adult novels.

What book are you reading now?
Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning.
What are your current projects?
I have quite a few. *Laughs* Forsaken (the final Academy of the Fallen novel), Fated (Mermaid’s Curse 2), Venom (The Reawakening Series – Imprinted Souls spin-off).  These are the ones I plan to release this year.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I tend to giveaway too much, so here is the official synopsis for Insatiable – A Mermaid’s Curse.
Arianna always felt like she didn't belong in the world where she was born. Ever since she was little, she used to hide behind the rocks in the sea, and watch the human family who spent their summers on that island. Over the years, there was nothing she wished more than to be like them, especially so she could get close to Blake, the human boy who she saw turn into a troubled teenager and then, an unhappy man. Once her dad grew tired of her dreams and hopes for a reality that is not her own, Arianna is thrown into an arranged marriage, and her only way out of it is to make a deal with the power-hungry man who will give her everything that she has ever dreamed of. Dreams that turn into nightmares as she watches Blake's world fall apart, because of her and Blake's inability to control their desires for one another.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Letting go of certain characters.
Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
Not too much.  I wish I had to travel more.  I love going to new places.
Who designed the covers?
Michelle Monique Photography took the picture used on the Mermaid’s Curse cover.  I love her work. Meredith Hancock is the graphic designer who made all the changes.  She is awesome.  She also did all of my other book covers.
What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing your books to life?
Time and patience…. I have none. *Laughs* Once a book is done, I want readers to be able to read it right away.

Insatiable - A Mermaid's CurseInsatiable - A Mermaid's Curse by Daniele Lanzarotta
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, nothing like being left hanging lol. Good story. Kinda had the feeling good ole dad was behind Owens "deal" My only issue is that I feel things went a little to fast between Blake and Arianna. Like there should have been more time to get to know one another, before the "I love you's" started flying. No disrespect to the author. I love your books Daniele. Other than that. The whole concept is pretty cool. Certainly has a "little mermaid" ring to it. Can't wait for Fated!

Looking for AlaskaLooking for Alaska by John Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

****SPOILERS****

Great read. Love the characters! The message found in this story: we live, we love, we lose. Live life to the best of your ability..enjoy it while you are here. Alaska obviously had some demons she was fighting and instead of getting help and reaching out, she kept it all in sadly. No one should have to go through life feeling alone and if you think that..stop!
Back to the story. After months of grieving and trying to figure out why and what made Alaska freak out, pudge(miles) and the colonel finally decide, ok, lets move on from this and start living our lives..the final piece to the puzzle has appeared on pudges doorstep. And now forgiveness ensues..well written, with an awesome life message.

Mile High by R.K. Lilley

Mile High (Up In The Air, #2)Mile High by R.K. Lilley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

****SPOILERS****

I liked the continuation of this story. I'm not crazy about their fetishes in particular the choking scene at the spa, whic to me was very disturbing and had to push passed it... I'm glad I did, because all and all it's a pretty good story. Finally caving in to James and letting him take care of her, Bianca realizes how much she has come to depend on James' love and affection. It's a drug to her, when he withholds it, she's ready to go mad with frustration. The day finally comes when Bianca tells james all about her father and what really happened to her mother and she feels even closer to him now. Their trip to Wyoming is one of many surprises he has for her..having clothes, a art studio and everything else she needs or wants, he just keeps chipping away at her hardened heart. I gotta say, I'm getting a little annoyed with all the implied "I love yous" but never really saying it..Just spit it out already..dang! So fast forward after the trip to Wyoming, back in Vegas with 24 hour security, Bianca gets a visitor from her dad's new Wife,Sharon. She just wants to give bianca a letter, but security is giving her a hard time, finally she takes it and Sharon rushes to her car..reading it, she finds out she has a half brother Sven..Hmm, could these be Stephen, her best friends since they were 14? Sorry, but its what I'm thinking. This book certainly keeps your interest. So many turns, so many emotions. It leaves off with yet another cliff hanger...Sharon has turned up dead! Will they get the SOB finally, or will he elude the police all together? I'll will certainly find out..Stay tuned for my review of Grounded, Book 3!

In Flight by R.K. Lilley ***Spoilers***

In Flight (Up In The Air, #1)In Flight by R.K. Lilley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

****spoilers*****

Bianca and James...my, my, what a relationship! Imagine knowing each other a week and being swept into a world you know nothing about, but was very curious to learn. Bianca a 23 year old virgin meets billionaire James on a flight from Vegas and all hell breaks loose! Caught up in his world and trying to protect herself from her last, Bianca gives in to the unknown of BDSM and well..she likes it. How quickly things change when this very "physical" relationship becomes very much emotional as well. James who's never really had a serious relationship is shocked himself how much he feels for Bianca. Being orphaned so young and abused by a relative has made James the man he is now. Bianca has seemed to bring out another side of him that he's not used too. Fast forward a bit and Bianca is at James apartment and walks to the kitchen to hear voices and to her surprise a beautiful blond and a housekeeper are chatting on about James and how they are so right for each other..Bianca is ill and runs out. Not speaking to James, she then finds comfort in Stephan of course. An emotional wreck Bianca lets her guard down and is attacked by the one person she wasn't expecting at all..her abusive father! After waking in the hospital 3 days later after the attack with James by her side and with all her might she wants to forgive him for being with Jules (the woman in his kitchen) she just can't yet. Hopefully they will see their way through their pasts that still haunt them and see what's in front of them..love..moving on to book 2 Mile High..lets see where this trip takes us next.

Dedicated to Aidan and Emma (The Proposition and The Proposal)

I think this is such a good song..It reminds me of Aidan and Emma for some reason.

The Proposal by Katie Ashley

The ProposalThe Proposal by Katie Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well I wasn't disappointed in this sequel AT all! Katie Ashley..you are one talented writer..I don't think I've read a book that made me well up with tears so much. Aidan and Emma are two very hardheaded people, who are totally meant for each other. Boy, did she make him work for forgiveness alright..lol..what a pair they make. I loved the way the author made you feel all these emotions..pain, love, confusion and anguish that the characters felt..they seemed so real, like people you know..friends even or family. The love scenes weren't over done, they were exactly right for the storyline. I give this five stars..what an amazing love story!

A refreshing love story with all it's faults. Aidan and Emma are too cute together. If only they'd stop being hardheaded and admit they love each other, life would be so much easier.
Left with a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read The
Proposal..I'm so looking forward to seeing how Aidan gets his dumb butt out of this mess and if Emma will even be nice enough to take him back. Quick read, I didn't wanna put it down!
