Eleanor & ParkEleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

****Slight spoilers****

Talk about a throwback to the 80's! This book pretty much summed up my high school experience. I genuinley adored every moment this book had to offer. It was humorous, smart, and sassy. I think the author totally captured how life was in the 80's...Casette tapes, acid washed mini skirts, mean girls, bullies, punks and of course MTV. Sadly,Eleanor was a target from day one..no one liked her..from the way she dressed, to her flaming, unruly red hair. Park, with his black hair and dreamy eyes, was quiet and reserved, never adding to her misery, offered up his seat to her on the first day of school. From then on their relationship went unnoticed, even to themselves, but it all changed and grew over the course of just one school year into something wonderful and magical, until an incident happens at Eleanors, she chooses to run away. With Park's help she takes the next steps to secure her life and be free from an abusive step dad and passive mother. I laughed, shed some tears and was furious at her situation. life lessons are all throughout this story. Overall this book was a terrific read and highly recommended. Thank you for sharing Rainbow!

A Discovery of WitchesA Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this book! It was long and descriptive..normally it's overkill and I lose interest, but this one really got my attention. Matthew and Diana..vampire and witch..I love that concept. It had a twilight kind of feel with their attraction to each other and Diana has quite a few "Bella" moments..ya just wanna smack her! Matthew is overprotective and territorial like Edward..the "congregation" is like the Volturi..so many similarities and yet not. That didn't bother me at all, because Twilight is one of my favorite books. DOW takes it further into the history of witches, vampires and demons, which I loved! Gonna start Shadow of night soon:)
